Corporate Systems
Administration implements high-tech processing
Employee benefit management company improves efficiency and accuracy
Corporate Systems
Administration Inc., an employee benefits management company, has invested
in technology and personnel that will allow automated claims processing, from
benefit plan setup to claims payment.
Diana Pearce,
CSA’s vice president of operations, and Stephen
S. Zappardo, vice president of information technology, have completed
certified training to lead implementation of the automated system. It will be
integrated with the company’s state-of-the-art online capabilities.
“Automation will make claims processing more accurate and
consistent and will speed up the process,” said Pearce, who has been with CSA
since 1983 and maintains plan building and system changes for new and current
clients.
Using the automated process will improve personnel
efficiency, the processing cycle time and enable clients to move towards wholly
electronic claims processing. CSA expects to process hundreds of incoming
claims in the time that it takes data entry personnel to manually type just
one.
“CSA is a leader in employee benefits administration and
we are eager to add technology that improves the quality of our services and
saves time,” Pearce said.
Federal regulations require automation and CSA’s
implementation is about a year ahead of the mandate of HIPAA, the Health
Insurance Portability and Accountability Act.
“With automation and our on-line services, plan sponsors
or employers will be better informed,” said Zappardo, who was involved in
developing CSA’s online capabilities to provide up to the minute online claims
status.
“Employers will see claims moving faster and more
consistently and can use our online services to check claim status and see very
easily the trends in their claims,” Zappardo said. “They will see exactly how
their claim dollars are being spent and with that capability, they can achieve
better control and planning. They can quickly generate graphical reports to
help them manage their plan daily.”
CSA’s online services also include eligibility status,
human resource enrollments, changes and terminations, plan information and
service help.
Pearce and Zappardo received certified training in claims automation
sponsored by ARC, the Association of Resource Information Management Systems
for All Clients. Pearce also was certified in dental claims automation.
CSA is a third party administration firm that helps
employers offer affordable and efficient health care coverage. The services
include the design of self-funded plans, cost management and expert local
